Experience: Must have 5 years of related experience.
Education: Masters Degree in Computer Science, Engineering (or related discipline) with 5 years experience in software development, or Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering (or related discipline) with 7 years experience in software development.
Description & Key Skills Required:
Serves as a member of the Integration and Development (I&D) Database Engineering Team. The DBE team is responsible for the installation, configuration and administration of Oracle Databases for the Integration and Development LAN. The DBE provides technical expertise in data models, Entity Relational Diagrams and database performance tuning for the Application Development Team. Defines and implements best practices within the environment providing on-demand database support to Operations and Sustainment as Tier-3 support engineer. Has DB reverse engineering experience to migrate legacy DBs, MS Access for example, to ORACLE platforms.
The Oracle Database Engineer will provide technical expertise in implementation and development support of Oracle 10g and 11g databases within a Solaris 10 environment. The candidate will assist with the migration of the current Production Enterprise Oracle environment from the current Solaris 9/Oracle 10g to Solaris 10/Oracle 11g RAC. As a member of the Database Engineering Team, the candidate will define standards and processes to support the Enterprise Oracle environment. Work within a team environment to implement customized solutions to support customer requirements. Support the Oracle development and test environments. Plan and complete patches to the Oracle software. Complete scheduled and unscheduled outages as required to support the integration and development environment. Conduct data conversion and migration of data on a project basis. May be required to complete architecture documents, submit supporting documents for SSAA accreditation, define hardware, software and storage requirements, and provide input in schedules and project plans.
Must Have:
• 5+ years experience supporting Oracle Databases
• Experience with Oracle 10g/11g
• Oracle 10g/11g RAC implementation and administration
• Oracle ASM implementation and administration
• Oracle Data Guard implementation and maintenance
• Oracle RMAN experience
• Performance tuning in an Oracle 10g environment.
• Solaris 9/10 experience
• A basic understanding of web services (SOAP, WSDL’s) and XML schemas.
• Experience data modeling, data migration required
• Experience designing and implementing mid to very large databases with respect to access methods, access time, batch processes, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods.
• Strong communication skills to include documentation.
• Good understanding of full life cycle development.
Desirable Skillset:
• Experience migrating Oracle 10g databases to 11g
• Performance tuning in an Oracle 11g environment.
• Oracle Application Server experience
• MS SQL Server 2005/2008 experience
• Linux experience
• Experience working with NetApp SAN solutions
• Hands on software development experience
