Job Description :
DESCRIPTION & KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Solid knowledge of PC hardware to include:
• Installing/replacing components such as video adapters, network interface cards, storage devices, etc…
• Diagnosing hardware related issues then acting upon the information to correct the issue.
• Solid knowledge with Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP to include:
• Work with desktop PCs
• Installing the Windows O/S on various hardware platforms
• Installing device drivers using various methods
• Diagnosing software conflicts then acting upon the information to correct the issue.
• An understanding of networks and how to configure Network Interface Cards (NICs)
• An understanding of security and group policies and how this will impact the system.
• An understanding of how a windows client connects to the server and the role of the Windows server to include
• The role of Active Directory
• The Role of DNS
• The propagation of group policies and security
MUST HAVE:
• Solid knowledge with software integration to include:
• Installing applications then identifying/resolving any conflicts with the system or other applications.
• Testing applications to insure functionality.
• The ability to converse with software vendors and technicians in order to resolve issues or to obtain licenses, patches, etc…
• An understanding of software license management and the various methods used to license a product.
• Writing installation procedures in standard format for each application and documenting any special procedures which are required.
• Familiarity with repackaging of applications using InstallShield, Wise, and similar applications.
DESIRABLE SKILL SET:
• The ability to research using various resources
• The ability to interface with users on a daily basis and provide training when necessary
• A general understanding of ADP security procedures derived from sources such as the NSA SNAC Guide, DCID 6-3/6-4, and similar.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering (or related discipline) or equivalent practical experience and 5 years of applicable development experience.
